Episode 2: You Have a Leak in Your Business, and It's Costing You Clients | Small Business Marketing
The Three Pieces Every Business Needs — and why getting two of them right still leaks clients.
Most small businesses stay invisible because one piece of the chain is missing, not because the owner isn't working hard enough. To turn a stranger into a client, a business has to be findable, clear, and followable. Two out of three still leaks. If someone finds you and understands you but has nowhere obvious to go, the interest disappears — and it looks like a marketing problem when it's a gap. Episode 2 walks through all three pieces and shows you which one is costing you the most right now.
In this episode:
You'll learn the three-word framework that decides whether a stranger becomes a client or quietly disappears.
You'll hear two real client stories — the manufacturing shop with 20 years of reputation and a front door nobody could open, and the 30-year-old company that went from barely staying open to hiring to keep up.
You'll get one gap to fix this week, and the under-an-hour way to fix it.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Why isn't posting more content getting me more clients?
A: Because volume doesn't fix a broken chain. If people can't find you, or they find you and can't tell what you do, more posts on more platforms just add cost to the same leak. Doing more is the most expensive way to stay invisible — it feels productive while the actual gap goes untouched.
Q: How do I know if my business is findable online?
A: Search the way a stranger would, not the way you would. Use the words a customer would type — the problem they have, plus your area — and see whether you come up at all. Most owners search their own business name, which always works and tells them nothing.
Q: How do I know if my marketing is clear enough?
A: Use the 10-second test. Open your homepage, count to ten, and ask whether someone who's never heard of you would know what you do and who it's for. Confusion loses more deals than any competitor will. If a stranger has to work it out, they leave.
Q: What's the one piece I should fix this week?
A: Whichever one a stranger hits first. If there's no obvious next step on your site, fix that. If there is one but nobody can tell what you do, fix the wording. Both are under an hour, and both stop the leak faster than another month of posting.
